Steel Locking Garage Cabinet

Steel garage cabinetAs I prepare to have my first child in May, I’ve been looking into making my home more secure. My wife said we need to install those plugs over the wall sockets, and that is a great idea, but what else could we be doing?

I found these while shopping at Frontgate.com. They are steel cabinets made for the garage, but they have a lock on the outside. While cabinets with doors may not be very convenient because you can’t see into them without opening those doors, check these out.

They have a steel frame with screen doors so you can easily see what is inside before you get the key and open the door. These are especially great for those young boys who like to see what dad is doing in the garage.

This type of cabinet may not be ideal for every cabinet in the garage, but you should always keep spray paint, acetone, paint thinner, and any other potentially hazardous chemicals locked away, and out of reach for curious kids. Lock those doors and protect your kids!

BusinessWeek had a great article about “Man Caves” which your garage can become.

$4500 Maple Table

Acrylic and Maple TableFile this under “Odd”, this table is $4500 and most people wouldn’t give it a second thought at a yard sale! As you can see from the picture, Citizen:Citizen has made this ugly unique piece of junk furniture for the über-trendy.

However, if you aren’t this trendy, you will keep $4500 in your wallet and this thing out of your house, which I think is a steal of a deal.

If you can’t see from the picture, the side of the box says, “Fragile do not drop”. The “designer” of this piece is FredriksonStallard.

According to the site, the measurements for this table are 15″ H x 39″ W x 14′ D. It doesn’t exactly look 14 feet long, but maybe the picture is deceiving.

Custom Staircase Guard Rails

Custom staircase handrailsSteptoe and Wife (don’t ask me) has a new crop of beautiful custom handrails designed for luxury homes, offices and hotels. When I was at the Westin St. Francis in San Francisco, they had railings similar to the ones pictured.

Obviously these are beautiful and functional hand rails. These particular guard rails are from the Chanel Boutique in Toronto, Ontario.

These rails are elegant and completely custom. They were designer created and completely installed using fabricated parts, nothing stock was used at the Chanel Boutique.

The design speaks for itself and the quality is spoken for by Steptoe’s many clients.

As Steptoe says, they are “100 years behind the times”, in terms of quality and design.
