Steel Locking Garage Cabinet0

Steel garage cabinetAs I prepare to have my first child in May, I’ve been looking into making my home more secure. My wife said we need to install those plugs over the wall sockets, and that is a great idea, but what else could we be doing?

I found these while shopping at Frontgate.com. They are steel cabinets made for the garage, but they have a lock on the outside. While cabinets with doors may not be very convenient because you can’t see into them without opening those doors, check these out.

They have a steel frame with screen doors so you can easily see what is inside before you get the key and open the door. These are especially great for those young boys who like to see what dad is doing in the garage.

This type of cabinet may not be ideal for every cabinet in the garage, but you should always keep spray paint, acetone, paint thinner, and any other potentially hazardous chemicals locked away, and out of reach for curious kids. Lock those doors and protect your kids!

BusinessWeek had a great article about “Man Caves” which your garage can become.

Removing and Preventing Rust0

TheRustStore has some great articles on how to Evapo-Rustremove and prevent rust. Better than that, they have hundreds of different items that will do the same, prevent or remove rust. Rust is the common term for the corrosion of steel or iron. Whenever iron or steel comes into contact with oxygen and moisture, there is the potential for rust. One of TheRustStore’s best selling product is Evapo-Rust which claims:

Evapo-Rust is a safe, effective and fast-acting rust remover. In addition, it’s easy to use. Simply soak your rusty object in Evapo-Rust for 20 minutes to remove light rust or overnight to remove extremely heavy rust. Evapo-Rust™ will not harm surrounding materials like steel, plastic, rubber or paint. It is a water-based, non-toxic liquid that is environmentally safe to use – no fumes or bad odors. The biodegradable solution requires no special equipment or scrubbing to use and can be safely disposed into sewers and drains. Evapo-Rust has an indefinite shelf life and can be used over and over again until it stops working. Unused portions can even be returned to the bottle for re-use later.
